New Course Alert: Updated CANRA Requirements

Starting January 1, 2021, The Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) will have new requirements for any employer operating within California. Per the updated act, there are two new groups that require additional training by law. True Office Learning will be releasing an adaptive, Scholar course to help customers meet these requirements for 2021.

Background on the act:

The Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) is a California law requiring employers to identify Mandated Reporters and secure acknowledgement of their status and reporting obligation as a condition of employment.

A Mandated Reporter is  an individual required to report observed or suspected child abuse or neglect to designated law enforcement or social services agencies.

What's Changed:

1) Starting January first, under CANRA, there are two new roles to be identified as Mandated Reporters: HR employees within companies subject to the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (CA FEHA) that also employ minors, and any adult employees who have direct contact with and supervise minors.

2) Training these new Mandated Reporters on child abuse and neglect is now mandatory under California law.
